Liqe seuman Getahun A Garede is born in Ethiopia from a very devoted religious family. He has 7 brothers all ordained as clergies and 3 sisters. According to the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church tradition, having gone through the required ecclesiastical studies he was ordained and began serving at various churches in Ethiopia including, Shashemene St. Micael, St. Gorge, and St. Teklehaymanot, which are centrally administered. Empowered by advanced church studies he joined the Genete Eyesus and Ankese Mheret St. Micael churches in Addis Ababa as a full time deacon. Later on he moved to Myskaye Hizunan Medhane Alem Monastry where he served for 8 years in different capacities.
While pursuing his theological studies he had the opportunity to serve the Ethiopian church in Jerusalem for 3 years. He was awarded a full scholarship to study Economic Development, Theology and Cultural Anthropology in Europe, where he successfully accomplished and earned degrees. He also traveled to many parts of Europe and helped in building and strengthening our communities.
In 1998 he joined Debre Genet Medhane Alem Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Tempel Hills MD and contributed a great deal in strengthening the long standing church community and actively participated in building a new church for about 9 years. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, he is currently serving the RADSKM church since January 2009 as the education department head.
He also holds A.A.S degree in Radiographic Technology. He speaks Arabic, English, French and Hebrew.
He has a strong interpersonal communication skill. He is a visionary, goal oriented and problem solver. He is passionate to build up and empower the new generation and pass onto them the beauty and values of Ethiopian culture and history.
